Tokai Forest in Cape Town offers a rich variety of natural settings perfect for photography, including tall pine plantations, indigenous forest, and open clearings.
Tokai is incredible to shoot at all year round, springtime we are spoiled with gorgeous flowers and during summer we can splash around in the natural stream that runs through it.
Wardrobe tip - Closed and/or flat shoes are recommended for the dirt track
What to prepare - for family shoots, please do pack some water to drink during the summer months and a change of clothing for children if they enjoy splashing in water. (we can also avoid this area!).
Family gem - lots of squirrels and birdlife in the area, an rumour has it Gruffalo lives nearby....
Shoots at Tokai Forest
Here are a few examples of shoots at Tokai Forest. Afternoon shoots are so cinematic in this location. We would shoot a bit earlier as the sun will set behind a mountain range nearby. This is ideal during the summer months when juggling bedtimes. A morning shoot is also really special, however it can get a little busy with the locals and dog walkers.
